Breast milk has been demonstrated over and over again to be the best nourishment your baby can receive. Breast milk is made specifically for babies.
But breastfeeding is more than giving your baby breast milk. The nursing relationship with your baby is precious - an intimate personal experience of love and closeness.
Breastfeeding is also best for you, the mother. Your post partum bleeding decreases sooner. You lose the extra pounds you put on in pregnancy more easily. Furthermore the hormones you make while you nurse your baby allow you to deeply relax and more effectively handle the stress in your life.
Although breastfeeding is natural and instinctive, for many mothers breastfeeding needs to be learned. This is partly because many mothers in our culture have not been around other nursing mothers and the culture we live in does not enthusiastically support breastfeeding.
Although the vast majority of mothers can ultimately breastfeed their baby with ease and pleasure, many women experience difficulties along the way and need some expert and compassionate help.
Yeshi has been working to help mothers achieve a soul-satisfying nursing relationship with their babies for almost 40 years. She is an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
She uses her extensive experience and wisdom to help you learn the basics of breastfeeding right from the beginning - how long and how often to breastfeed, how to position your baby, how to make sure your baby has a good latch and how to minimize discomfort and pain. She also assists you with any problems you may be encountering such as sore nipples, painful breasts, a baby who pulls away or cries inconsolably at the breast, or gains weight slowly, an inadequate milk supply or blocked ducts. Yeshi counsels you on ways to prevent breast infections. She also assists you to figure out how to continue breastfeeding as you go back to work.
Yeshi is at your side to support you emotionally. She encourages you to tune in to the needs of your baby as well as your own needs. She assists you to trust your own instincts in relationship to your baby. She takes the time to get to know you and your baby and the nature of your relationship. In that way she can adapt the basic principles of successful breastfeeding to meet the unique needs of you and your baby.
TESTIMONIALS
I had a lot of difficulty breast feeding at first: sore cracked nipples, baby who wouldn’t latch, not enough milk. Everything was going wrong. I was so frustrated. When Yeshi came over she was so calm and so sure that my baby and I would work it out and somehow we did... After a couple of days it seemed as if we were just made to have this amazing breastfeeding relationship. It was so sweet.

I had a terirble time with recurrent mastitis. My Ob/Gyn referred me to Yeshi because he didn’t think taking another round of antibiotics was so good for me. ( I had already had mastitis three times) Yeshi helped me understand what I needed to do to take care of myself with food and rest, to prevent another recurrence. She tailor-made a postpartum recovery plan for me. What a relief it was not to finally feel well and strong and to be able to enjoy breastfeeding my baby.

I went to get help from Yeshi because people around me were telling me that I should switch to formula because my baby was not gaining weight. With Yeshi’s help I was able to get my baby to latch on correctly and to understand that I needed to keep my baby with me and feed my baby much more often. These simple things turned the situation around and now I have a baby with huge chubby cheeks. I love it when people say “your baby must really like your milk!

My sessions with Yeshi were incredibly healing. I had been sitting atop a veritable volcano of grief and disappointment about the birth of my daughter and our early breastfeeding experiences. Yeshi's warmth and compassion instantly put me at ease and created the kind of safe environment I needed to explore those pent-up feelings. Finally, I was able to talk about the pain and trauma of my daughter's birth and my breastfeeding experience knowing that someone was willing to listen with a wise and non-judgmental ear. I only wish that I had contacted Yeshi sooner; the work we did together has freed me to enjoy being a mother again and to look forward with genuine enthusiasm to having another baby
